The Role

We are looking for a talented eBike/eScooter Lead Mechanic to join our Isle of Wight scheme. You will become a key component of the team by helping to deliver Beryl’s bike-share scheme in coordination with Solents travel plan.

Our Lead Mechanics are responsible for keeping the wheels moving. You will need to be conscientious, flexible and have a can-do attitude. Most importantly, you will be making yourself invaluable to the scheme and the wider community. You will have a wonderful opportunity to work within one of the country’s most exciting bike-share providers and maintain an integral role in our operations team.

The Person

• Proven ability to take on responsibility, pursue excellence and see tasks through to completion
• Exemplary communication skills with excellent written/oral communication skills for reports and presentations
• Personable, proactive, professional and able to demonstrate full commitment to customer care and service in all activities and interact at all levels of the organisation
• Work as a key member of the operations team and will take on responsibility for tasks singularly
• Possess the expert knowledge to identify opportunities for change and the ability to convey the need for change
• Has shown growth in their previous companies

Responsibilities

• Ad hoc, and scheduled maintenance, including but not limited to;
• Complete e-scooter / bicycle strip down and rebuilds
• Experience coordinating external stakeholders
• Experience managing a team
• Strong collaborative approach
• Ability to flex as priorities change
• Good self-awareness and ability to work at different levelsMinor and major repairs
• Quality assurance
• Keeping services and maintenance records
• Updating stock control systems
• General housekeeping
• Helping to support continuous service improvements
• On-street work (Redistribution, e-scooter battery swaps, e-bike battery swaps, on-street repairs etc)

Experience & skills

• Experience of working in manufacturing, mechanical and/or an engineering front line environment
• A background in mechanical maintenance
• Keen interest in bicycles
• Driving licence is essential
• Happy to work flexibly with rotational hours
• Fluency and good communication skills
• Be proactive
• Have an excellent eye for detail.
• Be confident with using initiative as well as managing time.

Please note, this position is shift-based with the working week running Monday to Sunday.
